Why Do I Have Eye Bags?

The cause of the dark circle can be hereditary, stress, weight loss related or age related and tends to occur where loss of volume in the eye area, and in the cheek area leads to a sunken hollow eye socket and a deep indent where the lower eyelid meets the cheeks. This is called a ‘tear trough’. Dermal fillers specifically made for the under eye area elevation and soften the appearance of tear troughs creating a brighter, fresher wide awake look.

How Does it Work

Tear trough treatment involves placement of dermal filler under the eye. The dermal fillers we use are made of naturally occurring hyaluronic acid which is non animal based in origin. When placed in the under eye area they elevate a sunken tear trough and brighten dark circles.

Where there is loss of volume in the tissues below the tear trough, replacement of this lost volume can also improve the appearance of the tear troughs and this is called an indirect tear trough method. An assessment is always carried out to ascertain your requirements, and decide on the best approach to suit you.

A great example of the Tear Trough Treatment on my patient Sukhraj.
Louise needed previous TT filler correcting due to botched placement. It’s always important to go to a skilled and experienced artist to prevent this happening in the first place

How is the Treatment Administered?

We use cannulas which are blunt ended tiny tubes instead of needles to reduce any trauma to the area, meaning the procedure is comfortable, quick, and almost never causes any bruising. The benefit of this is that there is no downtime associated with the procedure, meaning you can go straight back to work and no one will know you had anything done!

Are There Any Side Effects?

This is a very safe procedure when performed in expert hands. As we avoid the use of needles, there is rarely any bruising or downtime and 9 out of 10 people leave with no sign of having anything done. In the event that bruising does occur, it usually fades in a week or so and can be covered with make up the following day.
