Frequently Asked Questions

DERMAL FILLERS

Dermal fillers are used for facial aesthetic treatments and are injected into the skin. They are designed to effectively reduce the appearance of unwanted wrinkles, contour and create volume, and to revitalise the skin. Dermal fillers are based on Hyaluronic acid (HA) which is a substance that naturally exists in your body.

Hyaluronic acid is a sugar molecule that exists naturally in almost all living organisms. It binds water and can act as a lubricant and shock absorber in movable parts of the body such as joints. It is also important for the transport of nutrients and in regulating water balance in skin.

Due to the 8 Point DA Face Lift being a non-surgical non invasive treatment there is generally no down time, no scarring, no pain and much less risk of infections in comparison to undergoing a surgical face-lift.

The 8 Point DA Face Lift is a long lasting, subtle way to give a more natural youthful appearance to your facial features. The result of a single treatment can be seen instantly and can last for up to 18 months. Dermal filler injections used in the 8 Point Facial Treatment give a natural looking result that does not affect facial expression. As your face changes over time, dermal fillers allow you to control your looks subtly as you age.

Before
During the initial consultation at Deep Aesthetics, Amardeep will discuss your treatment expectations. After discussion of what you wish to achieve and assessment of your treatment needs, the Amardeep will recommend which dermal filler treatment is most suitable for you.

After the consultation, and if you are happy to proceed, your practitioner will help you complete a medical history form and you will need to sign a consent form before treatment can progress.

During
Dermal filler is injected into the skin in small amounts using a very fine needle. The gel provides natural volume to smooth away the appearance of lines and wrinkles, enhance facial shape, or create fullness in the lips or cheeks. Dermal filler products improve the elasticity and texture of skin, restoring and maintaining the skins hydrobalance.

The treatment is quick, typically taking about 15-30 minutes. Treatment with dermal fillers do not affect facial expression and the benefits can normally be seen instantly.

After
Dermal filler products are biodegradable, which means they will naturally disappear in the body. To ensure an optimal and long lasting result, a top-up treatment is recommended 6-12 months after your initial Juvederm or Revolax treatment. Discuss with your practitioner when a follow-up appointment may be appropriate.
After a treatment some reactions might occur, these include; are slight redness, swelling, itching, bruising, pain and tenderness. The reactions are generally mild to moderate and usually disappear shortly after injection. They typically resolve spontaneously within one or two days, but for some treatments they may last longer.

One of the great advantages of dermal filler treatment is that the effects are long lasting but not permanent. Duration depends on many factors, such as the individual’s skin type, skin condition lifestyle and age. After the initial treatment, follow-up sessions are normally recommended around every 6 to 12 months depending on the individual and the treatment. A treatment of the lips or cheeks lasts about 6 months.

Most people can benefit from dermal filler treatment. If you wish to:

  • reduce lines and wrinkles

  • create more defined or fuller lips,

  • define the contours of your face, such as chin or cheek,

  • boost your skin’s vitality, for a healthier more hydrated skin tone (e.g. face, hands, neck or décolletage)

Dermal fillers should not be used in or near areas where there is or has been skin disease, inflammation or skin related problems. Dermal fillers have not been tested in pregnant or breast-feeding women, Individuals with medical conditions that lower the body’s immune response or individuals undergoing therapy that is immunosuppressive may be more prone to infection by a skin injection procedure.
During your pre-treatment consultation, you should thoroughly discuss your medical history with Amardeep at Deep Aesthetics.

Generally, pain relief is not necessary when injecting into the skin to correct lines and wrinkles. Some people may experience the treatment as a mild discomfort. A local anaesthetic cream can be applied to the area for a more comfortable treatment experience.

The lips are a highly sensitive part of the body and, therefore, at Deep Aesthetics we only use dermal filler products with local anaesthetic lidocaine included for a more comfortable treatment experience.

Hundreds of million treatments have been performed since dermal filler became high in demand. Product related reactions are rare. There are some injection related reactions which may occur after any injection; they typically resolve spontaneously a few days after injection to the skin, within a week after injection into the lips. These reactions include redness, swelling, pain, itching, bruising or tenderness at the injection site.

After lip enhancement, lips may swell for up to a week, but this typically reduces after two to three days.

NON-SURGICAL LIP ENHANCEMENT

Yes please do. We work with you to achieve the desired effect and we never overfill lips. For those wishing to achieve a larger lip, we suggest a maximum of 1-1.5ml placed in any one session to allow the tissues to slowly and naturally expand and reach the best outcome without creating lumps, bumps and unevenness.

Yes, in the unlikely event you are not happy with the appearance of your lips, the products we use are all natural hylaruonic acid and can be dissolved completely, though we rarely if ever have to do this.
Amardeep also routinely corrects ‘bad work’ done elsewhere, and can dissolve wrongly placed or lumpy filler and re-do the treatment where necessary.

NON-SURGICAL RHINOPLASTY

The procedure is quick and after numbing the nose with numbing cream, is relatively comfortable taking approximately 5-15 minutes to complete, though expect to be with us for about an hour while we prepare you for your treatment and discuss the plan, take your confidential secure photographs and ensure you are numb and comfortable. The result is instant and there is no downtime involved which means you can continue with your day.

You can immediately return to your normal daily activities with no or little sign that you have had anything done! Aftercare includes avoiding touching the nose or wearing make up for 12 hours and avoiding wearing glasses or sunglasses for 1 week whilst the gel sets. Avoid sunbathing, sauna or steam rooms for 2 weeks after and lasers or facials. Any bruising that appears, though this is rare and usually very mild, can be covered with concealer after 12 hours. We also advise avoiding dental treatment for 2 weeks post treatment and avoiding heavy exercise for this period as well. 1 in 10 patients may need to return for a top up after the 4 week mark depending on the nose and tissue type to touch up the nose once the swelling dissipates. This is included in the treatment cost and is free of charge if needed.

Yes it is but this is a complex area and an advanced procedure with risks involved. These are discussed in depth with you at your appointment before proceeding. Risks of complications are low and our internal audit demonstrates incredible success rates with no serious complications, though complications can happen even in the most astute of hands. Some minimal bruising and swelling is not uncommon, though the extent is significantly less than any surgical procedure. Dermal fillers are made of naturally occurring hyaluronic acid which is dissolvable and reversible, though this is rarely ever required.

Aesthetic patients often present with a loss of continuity that comes with a straight, youthful jawline, commonly associated with age-related jowling. Facial ageing is a result of fat atrophy and volume loss from both bone resorption and tissue descent.1 Facial jowling can be worsened by the attenuation of the mandibular septum leading to the descent of the superior and inferior jowl fat compartments.

GENERAL FAQs

Historically Botox® had been the number one, and what were seeing now is a gradual transition where fillers are starting to supersede Botox®, because we’re learning that a lot of the dynamic problems in the face are not just because of muscle hyperactivity, but also because of the deflation of the face and therefore the relative hyper kinetic behaviour of the muscle.

The best results are multimodality, so we should use all the different technologies we have available to us.

One of the best injectors in the world in my opinion who I follow closely on various platforms is Raj Acquilla, and he answered this question beautifully. “As an artist, I would like to use a pallet with many different paints, and also to use different types of paint brushes to deliver the paint to the canvases. We now have technology and energy based devices, we can shrink fat, we can tighten skin, we can elevate and reposition facial fat compartments. I think we should be considering a holistic approach where we include all of those facial treatments to the patients plan”.

The concepts of Myomodulation and Myotetic manipulation in the face by manipulating facial muscle activity through the use of Hyaluronic Acid in dermal fillers is widely discussed in Aesthetics worldwide.

Historically we would weaken the muscle by using botox to neuro modulate the muscle. The cause for the muscle to become hyper active during aging is due to the degradation and shrinking of the facial skeleton. So when the skeleton shrinks, the skin, muscle and fat ultimately get larger in comparison. Imagine a glove on a hand, the hand shrinks and the glove becomes lose and unfitted causing it to crease more. The muscle has more room to contract during aging thus resulting in increased dynamic lines and wrinkles.
By treating those lines with botox and neuro modulating the muscle, you are only treating the symptom and not the cause of the problem.
With the advancement of filler today, we are able to support the muscles so they can contract properly. This is the main reason that Dermal fillers have began to supercede botox treatments. Through Myomodulation, we are able to provide patients with some truly incredible results where they appear more healthy and their facial expressions during animation and communication is much more genuine.

In my practice, I have everything, however my favourite is injection facelifts and beautification through augmentation and contouring of the facial features to meet the aesthetic ideal combined with my own subjective artistry.

The Golden Ratio is at the heart of a lot of the things that I do, however it is not the panacea for everything. It is not all about geometry, its about art, and its about a degree of subjectivity, and I think that the best injectors in the world are the ones who get that balance right between the objective geometric, and also the more artistic subjective.
