You know how people always say that you can’t rate beauty? That’s not entirely true, though we certainly agree when it comes to the effect of a great smile and happy eyes! But, there is a mathematical portion to even that. It’s called “the golden ratio” and you absolutely need to know what it’s all about, and what you can do about it.
What is the golden ratio?
Generally, it is a mathematical number that you get by having a certain kind of symmetry to your face. The two halves of our faces aren’t symmetrical, as many already know. However, the closer they are to being symmetrical, the more beautiful your face will appear to be to those looking at it. This isn’t something that we notice consciously, of course.
What goes into the golden ratio?
The length and the width of your face are measured. From there, the length is divided by the width. The closer the number is to the measurement of 1.62, the more symmetrical it is.
It’s important to note that just because you do not end up close to this number doesn’t mean that you aren’t considered beautiful. It just means that your facial features aren’t considered to be symmetrical. For those that want to change specific features of their faces to help with that, there are a few things that you can consider:
● Face shape sculpting: As the name suggests, this kind of reshaping will help adjust the appearance of the face without literally changing anything about your actual structure. It uses fillers and treatments to add or reduce volume and structure which will help give the appearance of change. It uses the aesthetics to help your face look and feel different so that it is closer to what you’re looking for.
● Cheek fillers and chin fillers: In this case, many who feel that one cheek is fuller than the other, can enjoy symmetrical cheeks that will help improve that golden ratio. Same goes for the chin. Many don’t have symmetrical chins and simply use fillers to help the chin look more symmetrical, which will dramatically improve the symmetry of the face as a whole.
Why is the golden ratio important?
Beauty is beauty, and it is often determined in the eye of the beholder. But, experts agree that the “eye of the beholder” actually factors in the mathematical golden ratio. While beauty is different to every person, a focus on symmetry isn’t something that can be overlooked.
It’s easy to achieve without jumping immediately to surgery. It starts with understanding how far off your features are from it, and then developing a plan to help you line all your features up to get closer.
If you’ve ever wondered just how symmetrical your features are, you can now figure it out using a clear and fuss-free way to do it. From there, it’s all about deciding just how you want to use that information to help address the human expectation of symmetry.
